Principles

Only the text of Scripture

  1. Only the 66 books of the Bible. There are no other texts here.
  2. Only established translations. Public-domain texts, word for word: KJV, ASV, WEB, BSB, YLT and the Russian Synodal. Licensed translations only with a license.
  3. No interpretation. No explanations, sermons or advice.
  4. No traditions. No church calendars and no denominational positions.
  5. AI selects passages; every word you read comes from the translation. The model only picks references, and the code checks each one. The text on screen is never written by AI.
  6. No ads, no tracking. No account; your history stays on your device. We only count anonymous visits (country and section of the site), without cookies and without storing IP addresses.

One exception: the collapsed "Outside the Bible: historical note", written by an editor.

Support

Everything here is free. For everyone. Always.

No ads, no sign-up, nothing paid. Every part of LampWay is open to everyone, and it will stay that way.

What goes into it

  • Research of the largest Bible services and a project charter: only the 66 books, only the text, no interpretation.
  • Design and prototypes for computer and phone; separate English and Russian versions.
  • Six official translations (KJV, ASV, WEB, BSB, YLT and the Russian Synodal) imported and checked verse by verse against two independent sources.
  • One verse numbering across all translations: a reference opens the same place in each of them, including the different Psalm numbering of the Synodal.
  • Reading the whole Bible and comparing up to three translations side by side.
  • A one-year reading plan: 1,189 chapters in 365 days, two modes, progress kept on your device.
  • Search across all 31,102 verses and the Nave's topical index, so a question leads to the right passages.
  • Verse selection for questions: AI only picks references, code checks every one, and the words on screen always come from the translation.
  • A careful mode for hard questions: words of comfort from Scripture and where to find help come first.
  • 60 test questions check the quality of answers; the site keeps working even when the AI service is unavailable.
  • Privacy: no sign-up, questions are not stored, history stays on your device.

More than 200 hours of work, and it continues every day.
